SOC4AI 2026 - Service-Oriented Computing for AI Applications
The 3rd Workshop on Service-Oriented Computing for AI Applications (SOC4AI 2026) is proposed as a co-located workshop with the 24th International Conference on Service-Oriented Computing (ICSOC 2026), to be held in Lodz, Poland, from 1 to 4 December 2026.
Service-Oriented Computing (SOC) has transformed the engineering of distributed software systems over the past two decades, while Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping every facet of the digital economy. SOC4AI 2026 brings these two domains into a single forum to explore synergies, challenges, and emerging research directions.
The workshop pursues a dual objective:
Service-Oriented Computing for AI Applications
How SOC principles, standards, and middleware can accelerate the design, deployment, and life-cycle management of AI-centric systems spanning the cloud-edge continuum.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Service-based AI architectures and reference architectures for machine-learning and generative AI pipelines.
- AI as a Service, including lightweight service descriptions and ontologies for foundation-model APIs.
- Orchestration and composition of AI services across heterogeneous providers and execution environments.
- Scalable, elastic, and cost-aware deployment of AI services across cloud, edge, and continuum infrastructures.
- Governance, privacy, security, compliance, and observability in service-based AI deployments.
AI for Service-Oriented Computing
How contemporary AI techniques, including foundation models, reinforcement learning, and causal inference, can enrich, automate, and optimise service-oriented architectures from discovery and composition to monitoring, governance, and sustainability.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Intelligent service discovery, matching, recommendation, and composition.
- Autonomous service management, self-optimisation, policy enforcement, and runtime adaptation.
- LLM copilots and agents for service operation, engineering, monitoring, and governance.
- Predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and maintenance for service-oriented systems.
- Sustainable and cost-efficient service operations using AI-driven placement, scaling, and resource management.
Key Themes
SOC4AI 2026 particularly welcomes contributions on interoperable AI service ecosystems, AI-powered autonomy and governance, sustainable and cost-efficient service operations, and human-centric and responsible AI-as-a-Service.
By convening researchers and practitioners from both communities, SOC4AI 2026 will consolidate best practices, surface emerging pain points, and articulate a shared roadmap for the next generation of intelligent, service-driven computing, aligned with the core topics of ICSOC.
Target Audience
- Researchers in SOC, cloud/edge computing, and AI/ML.
- Industrial R&D engineers building AI platforms, marketplaces, and service ecosystems.
- PhD students seeking cross-disciplinary perspectives.
- Standards bodies and open-source community representatives.
Submission
Submission instructions, deadlines, and the submission link will be announced after the workshop schedule is finalised.
